Nitish Kumar will become the Chief Minister of Bihar for the ninth time

As predicted, current Chief Minister Nitish Kumar submitted his resignation to the Governor today (January 28, 2024). Nitish Kumar resigned as Bihar Chief Minister on Sunday, ending his 18-month ruling alliance with Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress. He will now join the BJP-led NDA National Democratic Alliance. He will be becoming the Chief Minister of Bihar for the 9th time today at 05:00 PM.

Why the BJP is supporting Nitish Kumar

Though most political personnel, including the BJP leaders of the Bihar state and BJP supporters, believe that the BJP should not form an alliance with Nitish Kumar, but they cannot deviate from the command received from the top of the party. Though it is known to all, Nitish Kumar is not a trustworthy politician with the tag of “Paltu Ram,” who can change his stance and association at any time. But on the other hand, the BJP is supporting Nitish Kumar, keeping in mind the elections of 2024.

There are five reasons for which Amit Shah has taken this decision.

  • First Reason: Nitish Kumar was the first person to initiate the INDIA alliance to stop the BJP from winning the Loksabha election in 2024. Now the so-called opposition leader has changed his stance, which weakens the INDIA alliance initiative.
  • Secondly, it’s expected to destroy the morale of the opposition party. The position of the Congress Party has further weakened with the news of Nitish Kumar resignation. Now all regional parties have expressed their opinion against the Congress Party. Regional party leaders like Akhilesh Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, Maharashtra Shiv Sena, and Arvind Kejriwal are not ready to share much seats with the Congress Party in their respective states. The Congress Party has lost the grounds of negotiation within the India alliance.
  • Thirdly, most of the supporters of the INDIA alliance were against the glorification of the “Pran Pratishtha” ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. Now Nitish Kumar, who was one of the leaders of the INDIA alliance, is expected to voice his support for the “Ram Madir Issue,” and highlight the negative ideology of the INDIA supporters towards Hindus. The same may directly influence Hindu voters and bring more support to the BJP.
  • Fourth Reason: the impact of the “Rahul Gandhi Nyay Yatra” is diluted as he was supposedly entering the states of West Bengal and Bihar. Nitish Kumar has decided to skip the “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra” of the Congress Party.
  • Fifty Reason: Social media was showcasing Rahul Gandhi as “Jan Nayak,” which was widely impacted by the resignation of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. It establishes the fact that the political colleagues of Rahul Gandhi don’t trust him anymore which may have a negative impact on the Image of Mr Rahul Gandhi.

Sworn ceremony of Bihar Chief Minister

  • J. P. Nadda will reach Patna at 3:00 PM to witness the sworn ceremony of the new CM
  • Sworn ceremony has been scheduled for 5:00 PM
  • Eight ministers, including 2 Deputy Chief Ministers, will also be sworn in along with the Chief Minister.
  • BJP’s Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha to be Bihar Deputy Chief Ministers.

Political strategist Prashant Kishor has claimed that the new NDA alliance in Bihar will not last beyond six months after the Lok Sabha elections. He asserted that Nitish Kumar will flip again before the next assembly elections. Whatever may be the case, the current alliance is expected to impact Bihar politics in the Lok Sabha Election 2024 in the BJP’s Favor.
