Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Tributes

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the brave soldiers in his speech commemorating the 25th anniversary of India’s victory in the Kargil War.

The speech begins by honoring the sacrifices of Indian soldiers in the Kargil War and emphasizing the importance of their bravery. It then contrasts India’s approach to peace with Pakistan’s aggression and terrorism.

The speech highlights the development initiatives in Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir, including infrastructure projects like the Shinkula Tunnel and the Zojila Tunnel. It also emphasizes the government’s commitment to the welfare of the people of Ladakh, increasing the budget from Rs 1100 crore to Rs 6000 crore, almost six times the previous amount. This money is being used to increase the facilities for the development of the people of Ladakh. Key developments include the Jal Jeevan Mission, by which Ladakh is being supplied with drinking water through pipes to more than 90% of households. Indus Central University is being constructed to provide quality higher education to the youth of Ladakh. Work is also underway to connect the entire Ladakh region with a 4G network and the 13-kilometer-long Zojila tunnel, ensuring all-weather connectivity on National Highway Number One.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the works of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), which has completed more than 330 infrastructure projects in the last three years. This includes development works in Ladakh and projects like the Sela Tunnel in the Northeast. The pace of development in difficult terrain shows both the capability and direction of the new India.

A significant portion of the speech is dedicated to reforms in the defense sector, particularly the Agneepath scheme, emphasizing its importance for the modernization of the Indian Army. India has transformed from a “Weapon Importer” to a “Weapon Exporter” in the last 10 years.

Overall, the PM’s speech was a mix of patriotism, commemoration, and government achievements, focusing on the development of Ladakh and the modernization of the Indian armed forces.
