How Nitish Kumar’s oath ceremony as Chief Minister has changed the political landscape of Bihar.

Nitish Kumar finally took the oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the 9th time, along with two deputy CMs, Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha (OBC and upper caste combination), with the idea of running the government on equal terms while the BJP will allow Nitish to keep his position as the CM. He is the first CM in Indian politics to take the oath for the ninth time in his 18-year CM career. Though he did not confirm the exact reason for exiting Mahagathbandhan, led by the RJD and Congress, he indicated that he was not happy with the way things were going in Mahagathbandhan in the state as well as the newly formed opposition bloc in India.

As the Loksabha Election 2024 is around the corner, the strategic alliance is expected to create a storm in Bihar politics. It brings back the chances of the BJP winning the Loksabha election in the majority of Bihar, as they aim to cross the 400+ seat mark in the year 2024.
Since Nitish Kumar took office as CM for the ninth time, there have been mixed responses in Bihar’s political landscape. While some view his long-standing experience as an asset, others express concern over the lack of new leadership. Supporters of Nitish Kumar highlight his track record of governance and his efforts to bring development to Bihar. They believe that his continuity in office will ensure stability and consistency in the state’s administration. On the other hand, critics argue that Nitish Kumar’s repeated terms as Chief Minister have hindered the emergence of new leaders within his party and the broader political sphere in Bihar. They suggest that fresh perspectives and innovative approaches are needed to address the evolving challenges faced by the state.

Undoubtedly, the strategic move of Nitish Kumar has put the BJP ahead in the race in the upcoming election, but various factors, such as the performance of the current state government in the next 3 months, public sentiment, and alliances formed among political parties, will influence the outcome of the election. As the election approaches, it will be interesting to see how the political landscape unfolds in Bihar and who emerges victorious.
